Abstract
In pot trials, sorghum was given all combinations of 0, 40 or 80 kg N and 0, 20 or 40 kg P2O5/ha and was irrigated to field capacity whenever the soil moisture tension at 10-cm depth reached 0.25, 0.5 or 0.75 atm. Application of N alone and with 20 kg P2O5/ha significantly increased HCN content in plants 35 days after sowing. Plants given 40 kg P2O5/ha, irrespective of N levels, contained lower HCN contents than did plants given no fertilizer. There were no significant differences in HCN content between the 3 soil-moisture tension levels.
