Abstract
Eleusine coracana given 90 kg N/ha applied in 1-3 split dressings of different rates and on different dates gave the highest grain yields when 30 or 60 kg N/ha was applied at sowing and the remainder at the panicle initiation stage. The effectiveness of N as calcium ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulphate and urea was similar in the kharif [monsoon] season, but the 2 former N forms were better in the rabi [winter] season.
