Abstract
Sorghum (Sorghum Vulgare Pen) ranks second in respect of the area occupied by the cereal and millet crops in Rajasthan. Before slarting breeding programme, during the course of prelimi~i~rsyu rvey of this crop in the year 1960-61, lot of vnrinbility was found to be existing in the cultivators' local seed stock as well as in the standing crops. It was, therefore, planned to study this variability for the first time, which is the very basis of any crop improvement programme.
