Abstract

22 Pennisteum purpureumXP. americanum hybrids were grown during the rabi [winter] season with 50 kg N, 40 kg P2O5 and 40 kg K2O/ha applied before sowing. The 1st cut was harvested after 2 months and subsequent cuts were made at 40 day intervals. Cv. NB-5 produced highest mean green fodder and DM yields of 24.2 and 5.027 t/ha, resp., and showed highest N and P uptake/cut of 90.6 and 8.75 kg/ha. N and P uptake in all cv. was max. at the 4th cut
