Abstract

P. rubrisubalbicans is newly recorded in New Zealand [CMI Map 337] and on sorghum. It causes irregularly shaped dark red lesions on leaves and leaf sheaths, at first as interveinal streaks, later covering a large proportion of the leaf surface. Red crusts of dried exudate are abundant on both surfaces. Maize and sugarcane seedlings were successfully inoculated; water soaked lesions appeared on the former and red streaks on the latter
