Abstract
Dryland grain sorghum cropping sequences were used from 1957-70 to study the relationships between climate and dryland crop production. Available soil water at sorghum planting was greater for a wheat-sorghum fallow (W-S-F) sequence than for continuous sorghum (CS). The additional
stored water at planting was extracted for crop production, and resulted in 420 pounds more grain production per harvested acre for the W-S-F sequence than for the CS sequence...
