Abstract
Symptoms, seen first on groundnuts introduced for breeding at Bet Dagan and later in commercial fields, were: (a) severe mosaic; (b) mild mosaic; (c) severe vein clearing; and (d) total chlorosis without leaf distortion or stunt. No transmission was obtained from plants with (c) or (d) by grafting, aphids or mechanical inoculation. Transmission to groundnut seedlings was obtained from plants with (a) and (b) by cleft grafting and aphids but not by mechanical inoculation. Myzus persicae, Aphis gossypii and A. craccivora were all vectors. Flexuous rods c. 750 nm were observed. Crude preparations from plants of (a) and (b) reacted only with antiserum of groundnut mottle virus
