Abstract
Data, from a 7 X 7 diallel cross, on plant height and spread, number of nodes to first effective branch on the main stem, trunk height (distance from ground level to the first node) and number of nodes on the main stem were taken as indicating the predominance of non-additive gene action in the control of all 5 traits. Control of the traits was independent in the parents. Desirable recombinants, it was recommended, should be selected only in advanced generations
