Abstract
Climate change will significantly affect agricultural production significantly. Economic models that include the agricultural sector must capture two major effects from climate change. First, there is the impact on plant growth. Secondly, there are the resulting behavioral responses of producers such as changes in input baskets, crop and cultivar selection, planting dates, and management technologies. Such production changes will take place in the context of consumers responding to available production as well as their own evolving preferences. This article examines the use of crop modeling techniques to assess the physical consequences of climate change and how these effects can be combined with economic models looking into the future.
