Abstract
Studies on the association between plant type and grain quality in the world collection of sorghum have indicated that it is possible to obtain types combining high protein, lysine, methionine and vitamin A with high-yielding, dwarf and medium-height characteristics. The stability of yield performance of new hybrids of sorghum and Pennis- etutn in different environments is tabulated. A breeding programme is in progress to incorporate resistance to Claviceps microcephela into various dwarf derivatives of Pennisetum.
