Abstract
Six populations (parents grown separately, parents mixed, F1, F2 and F4) of each of three varietal crosses were grown at four sites for two seasons. Of the six, the mixtures of parental varieties showed low yield potential, had the lowest regression coefficient on environmental values and appeared to be the most stable in yield, while the population of F1 hybrids gave the highest yields, but yield was unstable
