Abstract
Increasing N rates from 30 to 60 and 90 kg/ha increased the grain yields of 4 pearl millet [Pennisetum americanum] hybrids. Yields were significantly higher with N applied in 2 split dressings at sowing and 3 weeks after sowing (WAS) than when applied in 2 split dressings 3 and 6 WAS, but the 1000-grain weight was higher in the latter treatment. The hybrids gave similar yields, which markedly varied in 2 years
