Abstract

In a 6-yr field trial at High Plains, Nebraska the seedbed was prepared by (a) burning, (b) ploughing or (c) no tillage followed by sowing Panicum miliaceum after wheat with double disc opener, hoe or slot opener. P.miliaceum grain yields and seed size were not significantly affected by seedbed preparation or sowing methods. Treatment (c) gave lower seedling emergence and taller plants than (a) or (b). The effects of summer rainfall on yield and stand count were positively correlated with rainfall after sowing
