Abstract
Further evidence confirming the occurrence of obligate apomixis in grain sorghum is presented. The data obtained include lack of pollen germination or penetration through the central column of the style; absence of seed-set after emasculation and pollination with alien pollen; seed-set in the presence of its pollen; the occurrence of aposporous 8-nucleate and 4-nuclcate embyo sacs; the presence of an unreduced egg and polar nuclei in the aposporous embryo sac and a diploid endosperm. Possible association between male sterility, self-incompatibility and apomixis is indicated.
