Abstract

IR reflectance readings measured with a tilting-filter wheel instrument were compared with oven moisture analyses of maize and sorghum grain. Correlation coefficients were 0.993 for maize and 0.959 for sorghum samples ranging in m.c. from 13 to 55%. It was concluded that the IR method showed promise for rapid estimation of m.c. in high-moisture whole grains, and modifications in instrumentation were suggested
