Abstract

Early fertilizer experiments on ragi (Eleusine coracana, G.) and recent fertilizer trials on maize are reviewed. Nitrate appeared to be the best form of N fertilizer under dryland conditions. Fertilizers increased ragi tolerance to drought. Profitable returns from fertilizer applications were obtained even under rainfed conditions.[31:22].
