Abstract

A male-sterile line with S. cernuum characters was observed in trial plots. Crosses of this line with four varieties showed that two varieties, 608 (BP3 X Kafir B) and 1231 (IS3922 X Karad local), restored fertility in the F1s. Comparison with the male-sterile lines G2s and 2219A showed that the cytoplasm of the new line is not identical with that of either.
