Abstract
Studies with two male-sterile lines, CK60A and M31-2A, 20 male parents and their hybrids showed significant differences in combining ability for all five characters studied. M31-2A hybrids flowered later than CK60A hybrids. Assessments of specific combining ability showed that the hybrids M31-2A X (M X IS84)-11, M31-2A X (MS229 X 7-5-3)-8-3A4 and CK60A X (5-4-1)-25-1 are promising for high yield, short flowering duration and medium height.
