Abstract

The semimicro Kjeldahl method was developed for use with a digestion block holding tubes. The sample, 30 to 200 mg, with 5 ml H2SO4 and salicylic acid (30:1, v/w) is, after 1 h, digested with K2SO4, CuSeO3.2H2O and pumice (970:19:11) as catalyst, at 360 to 380 deg C, for 1 h after the mixture clears. NH3+ is estimated by AutoAnalyzer. Recovery of added nitrate from plant material was at least 95%
