Abstract

7 potential grassland types found in different habitats of Rajasthan desert are; Sehima nervosum type on the hills and piedmont regions, Dichanthium annulatum type on older alluvial flat lands with sand clay loam to clay soils, Cenchrus type on well drained alluvial soils, Lasiurus sindicus type on loose sandy soils, Desmostachya bipinnata type on young alluvium, Sporobolus-Dichanthium annulatum type on low-lying heavy soils and Panicum turgidum type on sand dunes. Stable disclimax associations (grassland types) and seral communities within the associations are discussed
