Abstract
This study was intended t o determine the difference in susceptibility to shoot fly attack of 8 high yielding varieties of sorghum. The varieties were: Grokpra, KU 005, KU 257, KU 300, Hegari 182, PB Hegari and IS 8719 E173. They were planted in paired treatments with 6 replications. One-half of the plots were treated with carbofuran (3% C) at the rate of 0.45 kg ai/A, and the other half was left untreated, One week after emergence plants were thinned to one per each 10 cm.and infested plants were counted from the 3 middle rows the following week. Examination for dead heart plants were statistically compared (Table 1). This experiment was carried out at Pam Swan in August-December 1979
