Abstract

Inoculation of cowpea seed with (a) Rhizobium, (b) A. brasilense and (c) Rhizobium + A. brasilense gave fresh fodder yields of 34, 30 and 35.7 t/ha, resp., compared with 26.7 t without inoculation; application of 10 kg N/ha alone and with seed inoculation with (a), (b) and (c) gave yields of 32, 37.1, 32.9 and 37.2 t/ha, resp. Seed inoculation with A. brasilense or application of 45 kg N/ha to sorghum gave similar values for fresh fodder, DM and CP yields and Ca, Mg and P uptake; the values were increased with inoculation + N and were highest with inoculation + 90 kg N/ha
