Abstract

Runoff and soil loss studies were undertaken on alluvial loam soil of Kanpur having 2.35 per cent slope. The plots of cultivated fallow and jowar and maize crops cultivated up and down the slope resulted in higher runoff and soil loss. Contoured and fertilized plots showed less runoff and soil loss than uncontoured and unfertilized ones. Jowar and maize were not much effective in reducing runoff and soil loss. These losses were minimum under the plots of fertilized and contoured jowar, maximum under uncontoured maize and intermediate in contoured and unfertilized jowar
