Abstract

The type of gene action involved in resistance to Sclerospora graminicola was studied in 8 crosses between varieties of Pennisetum americanum differing in their degree of resistance. Genetic parameters were calculated from the means of the P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1 and BC2 generations. In general, epistatic effects were more important than dominance effects, which in turn were more important than additive effects.
