Abstract

The relationships between grain yield and several of its physiological determinants in 9 sorghum cv. were investigated using Willey's head clipping technique. In some cv. grain yield was limited by panicle storage capacity, whilst in others carbohydrate supply was responsible for lower yields. The results suggested that flag leaf area and efficiency were important in carbohydrate supply for grain filling, provided the capacity existed to accept the photosynthates
