Abstract
In trials during 3 seasons under dryland conditions in Rajasthan, bajra [Pennisetum americanum] was given 15-60 kg N/ha at sowing and 15-30 kg N/ha as a top-dressing and/or foliar spray. Application of 30 kg N/ha at sowing combined with a top-dressing of 15 kg N/ha in yr of normal rainfall or with foliar spray of 15 kg N/ha in a moderately dry season was most effective in increasing grain yields. It was not recommended to apply N as a top-dressing in the absence of spray facilities in dry seasons
