Abstract

During the green revolution, Punjab State played an important role to make India self sufficient in food grain production. At present, Punjab is contributing about 55 and 42 per cent of the wheat and rice, respectively , to centra pool form 1.5 per cent of the total geopgraphical area of the country. But the continuous rice-wheat cultivation has resulted in over exploitaiton of the two most important natural resources i.e. soil and water.
