Abstract

Leaf protein from Tx403 and six trisomics isolated from crosses between Tx403 and triploids was analysed using disc-gel, isoelectric focusing and SDS gel electrophoresis. The trisomics could be distinguished from Tx403 by the number and position of protein bands revealed by Coomassie blue staining, and in most cases the trisomics differed among themselves. SDS gels revealed the most protein bands, but the simpler technique of disc-gel electrophoresis was just as effective in identifying trisomics and differentiating them from Tx403
