Abstract

In trials in 1962-4, pastures of Panicum maximum var. trichoglume cv. Petrie alone or in mixture with Phaseolus atropurpureus [Macroptilium atropurpureum] cv. Siratro or lucerne cv. Hunter River were given 0-200 lb N/ac as urea in Sept. 1962 and Jan. 1964. N considerably increased the N content and DM yield of Petrie. Legume yields were too low to be a sensitive parameter
