Abstract
The response to applied K was medium to high, depending on soil type and available K contents, in rice, wheat, jowar [sorghum], bajra [Pennisetum americanum], maize and potatoes grown in different regions of India. The recovery of applied K by a crop was much lower when applied broadcast than when applied in bands in a high K-fixing soil and was higher when applied in 2-3 split dressings than in a single basal dressing depending on soil texture and nature of the clay minerals.
