Abstract
The salvation of Indian Agriculture lies in the uirrigated land, as out of the toal cultivated area of 158 million hectares, 127 million hectares is unirrigated. The green revolution has not only established encouraging trends in increasing agricultural production and bettering economic conditions of farmers in the areas having assured water supplies, but it has also simultaneously generated rightful thinking and concern of all politicians, administrators, planners and scientists towards finding out solutions for increasing agricultural production in dryland areas..
