Abstract
The F1 plants of crosses between S. subglabrescens (2n = 20) and a diploid race of S. halepense (2n = 20 + 4 to 6 B chromosomes) had 4-10 B chromosomes in the PMCs but none in root-tip cells. Of twelve hybrids obtained six had 4, two had 4-6, two had 6-8 and one had 8-10 B chromosomes. The accessory chromosomes were found only in pairs, three kinds of which could be distinguished
