Abstract

Much emphasis is presently being laid on raising the crop yield per unit area per unit time to meet the food shortage, as there is hardly any scope for expansion of areas under plough in our country. Our Soil and Climatic conditions are fortunately such that one or the other crop could be grown successfully throughout the year, provided the supplies of irrigation water, fertilizers and pesticides were non limiting.
