Abstract
Exserohilum turcicum (Pass.) Leonard and Suggs is a common pathogen of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.), teosinte (Zea mays ssp. mexicana), Paspalum scrobiculatum, Echinochloa-cruss-galli and maize (Zea mays L.). In addition Triticum, Hordeum, Avena, Oryza and Saccharum are also susceptible to E. turcicum under inoculations (4). However, there are reports about the possibility of existence of specialized races of this pathogen in these crops (3, 6). In some studies (7) the sorghum isolates of E. turcicum were found to be specific to Sorghum spp. (sorghum, Johnson grass, Sudan grass and Shatter cane), and avirulent to oat, wheat and barley......
