Abstract

Callus infected by Peronosclerospora sorghi contained more phenolics than healthy tissues. As the tissue aged, total phenolics increased in both resistant and susceptible cultivars. Young callus of a resistant cultivar contained much greater amounts of phenolics than that of a susceptible one. These results suggest that these cultures may be utilized to study the biochemical changes occurring in host-parasite reactions of obligate parasites
