Abstract

This report develops estimated relationships to forecast maize and grain sorghum prices both before planting and before harvest. The models that forecast price before harvest usually perform better than those to forecast price before planting, as indicated by the root mean square errors. The technique used in generating these price forecasts is to quantify stable relationships that have existed in the past among variables, using 1959-80 data
