Abstract
In trials with Pennisetum typhoides [= P. americanum] hybrid BJ-104 grown in the kharif [monsoon] seasons of 1976-9 and given combinations of 0-60 kg N, 0-30 kg P2O5 and 0-30 kg K2O/ha, av. grain yield was highest (2.3 t/ha) with 60 kg N + 30 kg P2O5 + 15 kg K2O/ha compared with 1.1 t without NPK. Crops showed a quadratic response to the total NPK units the max. being 90.87 kg N + 45.41 kg P2O5 + 27.27 kg K2O/ha and the min. 57.66 kg N + 28.83 kg P2O5 + 18.3 kg K2O/ha. The multiple regression fit of N, P and K with grain yield indicated that response/kg N, P2O5 and K2O was 13, 11.37 and 0.058 kg/ha, resp. The standard regression coeff. of these nutrients showed the contribution to yield of N, P and K was 59.51, 35.33 and 0.056%, resp.
