Abstract

Progeny of desynaptic plants of Pennisetum typhoides included two self-sterile mutants showing partial, complete or transitional transformation of stamens into carpels. F2 segregates showed this mutant condition to be determined by a single recessive gene. The occasional formation of two seeds from the same spiklet indicated the functional ability of some of the extra carpels
