Abstract
The response of 5 pearl millet (Pennisetum typhoides) hybrids (BJ 104, BK 560-230, PHB 14, BD 111 and BD 763) to 3 levels of N (0.40 and 80 kg/ha) in drylands was tested in experiments conducted during rainy seasons of 1977 an 1978. Mean grain yield of BD 111 was highest at 2.9 ton/ha. The hybrids responded significantly to N application up to 80 kg/ha; the optimum dosage was found to be 79 kg N/ha
