Abstract

In 1974-6, unshelled nut yields of groundnuts intercropped with maize, [bulrush] millet or sorghum ranged from 1.62 t to 2.28 t/ha compared with 2.51 t in sole crops [pure stands]. Intercropping gave 27.7% greater cash returns than sole cropping. Increase in the proportion of cereals and including maize in addition to sorghum and millet gave the highest cash returns
