Abstract

Application of 3 t rice straw or 6 t FYM/ha in 7.6-cm wide bands over the row after sowing pearl millet accelerated emergence, increased germination percentage, shoot growth and root penetration into the soil by decreasing soil temp. by 4.4 deg C and increasing soil m.c. by 3%, compared with overall application by mixing in the top 7.6-cm soil layer and the untreated control
