Abstract
A study of four yield components in crosses within the Pennisetum typhoides populations Composite 4 and T55 showed that the average variance of families was greater than the variance of family means for all characters in both populations, indicating frequent recombination. Heritability estimates were medium to high for all characters except number of leaves and were greater in the T55 population than in Composite 4. It is suggested that selection for ear length and peduncle length in both populations and for height in T55 would be successful
