Abstract

In trials in 1970-2 with 2 Napier bajra [Pennisetum purpureum X P. americanum] hybrids sown in Apr. 1970, winter management treatments were (a) after the last cut in Oct.-Nov. stumps were left uncut with intact regrowth to cover them in winter, (b) the regrowth on stumps was cut in early Dec. and they were then covered with straw or (c) stumps after cutting and removing the regrowth were left uncovered. The fresh yields in the 1st cut following the 3 treatments were 43, 34.8 and 22.7 t/ha, respectively
