Abstract
High-yielding and low-yielding individuals were selected from 208 full-sibs derived by reciprocal recurrent selection for shorter plants and earliness in two Pennisetum americanum composites. Plants in the improved populations had fewer and shorter nodes than those in the unselected composites. Within populations, the length of internodes from the bottom to the top of the plant followed a pattern. These patterns differed between populations but were consistent for the two composites
