Abstract

Path-coefficient analysis of the yield of 37 populations of Pennisetum typhoides X P. purpureum hybrids indicated that the number of tillers per plant is, in general, the most important component of yield. Number of leaves per plant and plant height were also important, while stem thickness was the least important. The character associations differed in each of the hybrid populations
