Abstract
Leaves and stems of Pennisetum purpureum X P. americanum hybrid NB 21 were analysed at different growth stages. Water-soluble carbohydrates, free reducing sugars, alpha -cellulose, holocellulose, lignin and silica contents increased with age and their concentrations were always higher in stems than in leaves. CP, water-soluble oxalate, total minerals and Ca content decreased with age and the leaves had higher concentrations of these constituents than stems
