Abstract

Leaves of 60-day-old plants of 7 E. coracana cv. grown during the 1970 monsoon season were used to calculate leaf area factors. A factor of 0.75 multiplied by the product of the leaf length and width was suitable for cv. ES11, IE817 and Purna, whereas a factor of 0.78 was suitable for cv. H22, IE237, IE267 and Hamsa. The area of the 5th leaf when mutiplied by a factor of 8.773 gave the closest estimate of the total leaf area
