Abstract

Dry seeds of the inbred I55 were treated with 10, 20, 30 and 40 kR of gamma rays and the M1 plants studied. Most of the partially sterile plants obtained in the M1 were found to be translocation heterozygotes, 48 of the 58 translocations obtained involving two pairs of chromosomes. The pollen and ovule sterility of the translocation heterozygotes involving two pairs of chromosomes ranged from 24.5 to 58.4% and 11.2 to 37.4% respectively....
