Abstract
Combining ability in pearl millet has been studied in a diallel set of seven inbreds from different eco-geographic regions. Both GCA and SCA variances are found to be highly significant. The higher magnitude of GCA variance indicates that inheritance of these characters is predominantly governed by additive and additive × additive components of genetic variance. IP 81, and IP 380 are good general combiners
