Abstract
Panicum maxium JACQ., a native of Africa, is now widely distributed in tropical and sub-tropical regions, where it is recognized as a valuable fooder grass. It is a facultative apornict, and like many tropical grasses seed formationis generally poor, although some good seed forms have been found. The purity of the seed is often very low. However, with improved harvesting techniques and better seed lines seed lots of higher purity are now being produced.
